Because typing out “favourite” for the title was too hard
First, a PSA…Do you know what you should be worrying about (besides evil cows and evil birds, obviously)? Giant lambs…this is just the beginning. Start preparing now for when sheep take over the world…See this and this.
Moving on… so I’ve had a draft of this post hanging around for a few weeks. I started it when I found myself thinking: You know what we need more of on the internet? People giving all kinds of recommendations about things you should try/do. Because you really can’t find much of that anywhere.
Which brings me to this oh-so-exciting list of things that I’m loving currently (please try to curb your enthusiasm).
1. Let’s start with Oyster books. And let me also say that y’all are lucky because I could probably do a whole blog post about this, but I won’t. I first read about Oyster and another blog and was very intrigued. I love reading and while I love going to the library, I do like having a book on the iPad for things like the gym, an airplane, etc. Basically Oyster Books is the Netflix of the book world. It is an online library that you have access to, but you don’t have to check things out or wait in a queue for your turn to access the books and there are no due dates; keep reading until you’re done. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. So many genres. So many authors. So many books for my greedy little eyes!! If you’re interested, click over here. When you sign up, you get $15 credit for Oyster, which means you could try it out for free for a month (The subscription is only $9.95/month) and cancel if you hate it/don’t find books you want to read! You can read on the computer or on a tablet (or phone, I reckon) through their app. **Side note: the Oyster interface on the app isn’t quite as user friendly as the Kindle app, in my opinion, but overall I like it/it works well.
2.THESE SHOES! from Lands End. My sister recommended them to me and told me to get two pairs because I would love them so much. I listened to my wise sister and I got mine in purple and grey. They are called “everyday” shoes and I literally have been wearing them everyday to work since I got them. I am on my feet a lot at work but when I wear these, my feet are much less tired by the end of the day. I’m currently debating what color my next pair should be (navy or black?) because I must buy all the bungee ballet shoes!!
3. I feel like I’m late to the party a lot when it comes to TV shows, so this isn’t that exciting, but I binge-watched the BBC’s Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch, all the seasons so I’m caught up with the rest of the world who has been patiently waiting for more Sherlock. It’s very different from Elementary, my other new favourite (Sherlock Holmes) show, but it is sooo good. There’s still plenty of time to catch up if you haven’t watched it!
4. This recipe. It’s a Crock Pot pork roast that calls for minimum ingredients. Pork, balsamic vinegar, chicken broth, some spices and some honey. Super easy prep, throw it in the Crock Pot and let it cook. The pork is sooo tender and flavorful, and really does just pull apart nicely with a fork. And if there’s just two of you, you also have plenty of leftovers. This one is going into my regular rotation of meals to cook (I was going to take a picture to show you how lovely my roast looked but we were pretty hungry when we decided to eat it, so I didn’t really get around to taking one).
5. And speaking of food (because I do love food), I gave Nature Box a try. I kept seeing it pop up on Facebook and the advertising finally worked on me. When you sign up, you get a small box with some free snack to try out, so I started with that. Derrick and I both really liked the snacks, so I’ve ordered my first real box that comes with 5 snacks. You get to choose what snacks you want or you can have them surprise you. I guess it’s supposed to be “healthy” for you or whatever, which I don’t really care too much about, but I do like good quality, tasty snacks. I was a little hesitant to try it because you have to give them credit card info and it automatically renews your subscription each month, but it looks like you do have options if you don’t want to pay for a box every month or that it would be easy enough to cancel the subscription. At any rate, I have 3 free boxes of snacks that I can give out, so if you want to sign up and try it, let me know and I can send (I’m assuming) a code/invitation your way.
And that’s enough links and recommendations for one day, I think…Happy Monday.
